Position Overview:


The Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience, in New Orleans, is seeking a dynamic and

detail-oriented professional to join its full-time staff as the Marketing & Communication

Manager. Working closely with all staff members, this individual will oversee the museum’s

marketing to local, regional, and national outlets, via social media, email and printed

communications, paid advertisements, and earned media. A successful candidate will

have exceptional multi-tasking skills, knowledge and experience in marketing and

communications, and a strong interest in promoting the museum’s mission.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Marketing


  • Ensure the museum’s stakeholders are kept informed of MSJE’s activities and impact via production of monthly newsletters, daily social media posts, maintenance of website, traditional earned media, and targeted paid advertisement, using MSJE’s established voice and style

  • Use analytical tools to refine and improve the museum’s marketing efforts

  • Build relationships and identify opportunities for promotion and collaboration with other organizations 


Communications


  • Serve as coordinator for all press interviews

  • Write and distribute press releases; maintain and grow a list of press contacts


Graphic Design


  • Design basic graphics in Canva for social media posts, events and programming, print and digital ads, mailers, and signage

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:


  • Minimum 2 years working in marketing, communications, journalism, or transferable experience

  • Knowledge of and interest in Jewish history and culture

  • Experience working in the non-profit field appreciated

  • Expertise in running social media campaigns, traditional media campaigns, and digital advertising campaigns (graphic design proficiency preferred)

  • Experience with maintaining a CMS, Constant Contact, Canva, and Adobe Suite, or equivalents

  • Experience writing, editing, and proofreading content including press releases, articles, etc.

  • Demonstrated basic graphic design skills

  • Ability to appropriately prioritize and multitask while meeting deadlines


Compensation:


This is a full-time, onsite position with a competitive salary range of $52,000-$55,000 and

full benefits package.
