On Tuesday, November 19th, 2024, MSJE welcomed humor columnist and Alabama native, Doug Book. He shared excerpts for his new book Rear Pew Mirror II: Wrath of the Columns.  Judaism and comedy go together like Yom Kippur and sneaking a snack. After the level of success of his first collection of Jewish humor columns, Brook is nevertheless back with more in “Rear Pew Mirror II: The Wrath of Columns.” We joined him for the launch of his latest book; hear excerpts, ask questions, get semi-related answers, and be prepared to laugh (and perhaps accidentally learn) when we need it the most.   About the author: Doug Brook has been the back page humor columnist for Southern Jewish Life magazine since 1996, and premiered the related Rear Pew Mirror podcast in 2021. Beyond a career in senior management in Silicon Valley, this Alabama native is a theatre actor, director, and playwright, as well as a longtime synagogue instructor, short-notice Torah chanter, and substitute sermonizer when lightning isn’t in the forecast. He recently received a graduate degree from the Jewish Theological Seminary, clearly indicating they haven’t yet read his column. He doesn’t like noodle kugel.
