The Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life, located in Jackson, Mississippi, is looking for summer interns to work with the director of its History Department. The Institute is dedicated to documenting, preserving, and interpreting the history of Jews living in the South. You can be a part of this exciting process of preserving the stories of past generations.
Duties may include:
- Organizing and archiving information in the history files
- Road trips to southern communities to collect historical documents and information
- Historical research and writing
- Assisting our oral historian in interviewing subjects
- Transcribing & indexing oral histories
- Grant research and preparation
- Assist with development of interpretive projects
- Assist with planning and promotion of cultural events
Interns will reside in Jackson, Mississippi and receive a stipend. The Institute will help locate lodging, though interns will be responsible for paying room and board.
